Sarah Abitbol is Head of Policy and Advocacy at the European Public Health Association (EUPHA), where she leads high-level engagement on health security, prevention, and health equity across the EU and the wider WHO European Region. A French-trained lawyer with a background in European law, Sarah began her career working in criminal law, labour law, and European consumer law before transitioning into public affairs and international advocacy. With over a decade of experience in EU policy, legal advocacy, and NGO leadership, she is known for building bold advocacy strategies that cut across institutional silos.
Since joining EUPHA, she has developed and implemented its lobbying strategy from the ground up – building cross-party alliances in the European Parliament and opening strategic dialogues with NATO, EU agencies, and civil society actors. Her work is guided by the principles of primum non nocere and “leaving no one behind,” with a particular focus on defending the rights of marginalized and vulnerable populations, including children, women, and migrants.
Sarah is actively involved in several European coalitions and interest groups focused on prevention, inequalities, and chronic disease risk factors. She is recognized for her foresight and her ability to connect dots that do not initially seem to align, bringing a systems lens to advocacy and turning complex challenges into coordinated action.
