As a mission-driven professional, Laura aims to drive value by improving communication and patient experience across healthcare contexts. She accomplishes this through thought-leadership, business and program development, and academic scholarship.
In her role as Editor-in-Chief at The Journal of Patient Experience, an open-access peer-reviewed academic publication, she leads a team dedicated to creating influential content focused on patient experience research and education. During her tenure, she led a significant increase in article submissions and readership, a testament to her growing influence in the field.
During her 12-year service to The Academy of Communication in Healthcare, she consistently formed strategic alliances, generated new business opportunities, and managed a robust portfolio of enterprise affiliates. Her program leadership empowered healthcare leaders across many health systems to implement evidence-based communication skills training programs, designed to improve outcomes and experiences for patients.
Additionally, she is Co-Editor for “Communication Rx: Transforming Healthcare through Communication and Relationships”, a popular book in the McGraw-Hill Professional Series. In addition to these roles, she’s had the privilege to speak at high-profile conferences and be recognized as a subject matter expert in media outlets. This has allowed her to build credibility in the field, network and sustain executive-level relationships, manage external collaborations, and convene industry events.
