Dr. Ksenija Kos is a distinguished neurologist based in St. Louis, Missouri. Born and raised in Zagreb, Croatia, Dr. Kos’s journey into medicine began at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine, where she earned her M.D. degree.
Seeking opportunities beyond Croatia, Dr. Kos ventured to the United States in the early 1990s. She pursued research at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, before transitioning to a postdoctoral position at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS).
Determined to realize her dream of a clinical career, Dr. Kos undertook the arduous process of obtaining U.S. medical certification, followed by a prestigious neurology residency at Barnes Jewish Hospital and Washington University in St. Louis. She further specialized in neuromuscular diseases and electrodiagnostic medicine through fellowship training.
Joining Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Dr. Kos has served as Chief of Neurology, demonstrating her commitment to community and excellence in healthcare.
Dr. Kos founded a non-profit organization CROMed-USA (Croatian American Medical Alliance) in the heart of St. Louis, Missouri in 2022. The organization stands as a testament to her dedication to bridging medical excellence between Croatia and the United States. It is a symbol of Dr. Kos’s efforts to blend her Croatian heritage with her American medical experience. Having navigated the complexities of medical training across continents, she understands the challenges faced by aspiring healthcare professionals. However, the organization’s mission extends beyond individual aspirations. Through partnerships with medical institutions in both Croatia and the United States, CROMed-USA facilitates academic exchanges and educational initiatives.
